My WordPress origin Story
It all started when I launched a website called Lojas na Internet (Online Stores), a directory where local businesses could showcase their products and services online.
Excited about the project, I grabbed my old notebook, printed some flyers, and walked around the city where I was studying, pitching subscriptions to shop owners.
Most politely declined. Some didn’t quite understand the value of being online. But one day, I stepped into a small advertising agency that also ran the local newspaper.
Game-Changing
My WordPress Origin Story would change forever. The owner listened to my pitch, then leaned back in his chair and said something unexpected:
“Forget selling subscriptions. Why don’t you build websites? We already have a client for you.”
At that moment, everything shifted.
My first real project was a website for a small game store. I had no prior experience developing websites professionally, but I was determined to deliver something great.
I chose a popular Elegant Themes template—though I can’t recall the name—and customized it as best as I could. When I finally showed the finished site to the store owner, he was thrilled. Seeing his excitement, I realized something powerful:
This wasn’t just about websites. It was about helping businesses grow, about creating an online presence that mattered.
At the moment
From that day on, WordPress became my world. What started as a simple business experiment evolved into a deep passion for web development, design, and digital strategy. And it all began with a single yes from someone who saw potential where I hadn’t yet.
If there’s one lesson I took from this journey, it’s that opportunities often come disguised as challenges. And sometimes, the right door opens when you least expect it.
